GBWhatsApp !! Whatsapp+ !! Whats all hype for?

GBWhatsApp !!! WhatsApp plus !!

Many of you used it or at least heard the name of this thing. Who doesn’t like some modified cool fascinating features which regular WhatsApp don’t provide. But wait!! Who made it? Who is person or organization behind it? y Who controls it? And mainly Is it safe? You will get all the answers here. Scroll your way down.

(We are referring GBWhatsApp, WhatsApp+, FMWhatsApp, OGWhatsApp, basically all WhatsApp mods as GBWhatsApp)

But wait!!! Let’s look at some FAQ’s…

What is GBWhatsApp??

GBWhatsApp is modified version of WhatsApp (as we know modified versions of games). Normal WhatsApp is modified to add extra features in it and seriously they are pretty much cool.

GBWhatsApp versions were made or modified mostly in Arabic countries. As per google, it is made by developer Atnfas Hoak. But over time, more developers rebuilt or modify it as we know with various names like OGWhatsApp, WhatsApp plus etc.

Why people loves it?

If WhatsApp is Marvel universe then GBWhatsApp will be Tony Stark (Iron Man) of it. GBWhatsApp gives features that are so cool.

Got two numbers to stalk your crush?
GBWhatsApp can help you. We can open two WhatsApp account on same device using different numbers

Some of the more features in it:
·         We can freeze our last seen status
·         We can customize it. There are tons of options of customization
·         We can hide we have viewed someone’s status specifically
·         Can hide blue tick, double tick, single tick for particular person
·         Can turn off internet access to GBWhatsApp as long as we want

Why GBWhatsApp is not available on Google Play Store?

PlayStore don’t allow modified apps on its platforms as it doesn’t pass PlayStores security checks e.g.google's saftynet checks.

So, from where people download it?

We can download it from some shady websites on internet. (I’m not mentioning them, a simple google search will take you to it.)

Who can control it?

As it is available on third party websites. It is possible that owner of that website has modified some feature in it accordingly? So, he can spy on you.

Main question arrives…

Is it safe?? What are the security risks are accountable by using it??

GBWhatsApp is built and modified by unofficial developers. So, these developers can be some shady hackers or malicious developers. They can navigate your data go through their server then to official WhatsApp servers.

Yes, they can do that! Messages you send, statuses you upload, contact list you own etc. Hackers can get all of this information as you are allowing these data to go through their servers.

They can also get to know your current location, your live location, confidential photos videos and other stuff you send to your contact. In worse case, they can also tap your microphone, take photos from your camera, even your other activity besides WhatsApp.
Some of the things will not make sense to you but trust me they can do it.

Let’s take a look at how Official WhatsApp makes money.

As we know WhatsApp used to charge after one year’s trial to continue using it. But in Feb 2014, Facebook bought WhatsApp in almost $4 billion in cash and $12 billion remaining in Facebook shares. (Figures are not sure). After that Facebook made WhatsApp free for lifetime.

So, why the hell Facebook bought it in such high price?

Well, its big beneficial platform for Facebook to figure out targeted ads to users as per their interest.

Facebook collects data from WhatsApp. This data may include some common keywords, location of user, repetitive keywords, contact details user owns. So that, Facebook will know particular user’s interests, hobbies, their location to deliver ads as per their interest as it will be successful click bait.

Even official WhatsApp saves our data based on our interest. So why moded WhatsApp will not make most out of it. This moded WhatsApp can collects data from user and will bulk sale data to companies for targeted ads and promotion of their products. Remember your privacy is not for sale.

Usage of GBWhatsApp can destroy your privacy.

As of today, WhatsApp is most used messaging platform. We use WhatsApp almost all day. We use WhatsApp for privet conversations, confidential document sharing, location sharing etc. which are privet things for sure. Remember one thing, hackers may target victims in mass.

Sometimes they are not victim specific but to throw fishnets and wait for fishes to trap into it. Whether they are spying on you if you use GB WhatsApp, you probably won’t know. So, use it knowing that there is a risk that they might be doing that.

Banning??

In last couple of years, WhatsApp had permanently banned some of the whatspp plus users as they used their moded app without any prior notice or warning. But last year they started to first warn or temporary block users then block them if they don’t follow their guidelines.

We can’t predict future as they will ban GBWhatsApp users or not.

So, How GBWhatsApp managed to still work?

A wise man once said "Learn from your mistakes."

GBWhatsApp is careful enough to not mess with core. What they do is alter specific files which are not server side but user sides. These files are not protected by core WhatsApp app. They alter codes in these files so user can customize it.

Let’s make it simple. Example They change the value of video file size we can send which is a user side alteration. It doesn’t affect as well as inform server side.

This way they trick official server. Official server does important works like encrypting so it doesn’t look at it. As this app is not getting banned from WhatsApp. So, they are not violating any rules.

Genius!!

Conclusion:

There are few cases that poses GBWhatsApp as threat. It is OK to for normal use. But if you are concern about privacy don’t even download it. GbWhatsApp is not available on PlayStore as it doesn’t pass through Google Play Protect so they don’t put it because it might indeed have malicious code that spies on you.

So, we can’t say for sure it is safe. Recently a big tech company got in headlines for selling user’s personal data *coughs*bacefook*coughs*. So, chances are much more that GBWhatsApp doing this for sure.

A big risk with your data privacy comes with usage of GBWhatsApp. Sure, it is so cool, but it may cost you big price in future. Use this moded apps in your own risk. Remember your privacy is not thing for

  1. This article is very informative!
And I would try not to use such apps in future.
And I know that some politicians *cough*trump*cough* used and manipulated publics personal data and their views to fight elections, which was sold by a company *cough*Facebook*cough*, which owns whatsapp.. Does that mean that our personal data is not kepy safe by social media that we use?
